An Evening of Electric Blues
The Lower Boathouse is a spectacular riverside venue, intimate and atmospheric, set alongside the River Cherwell in Oxford. In this context it lends itself readily to summertime music and theatre art events.
For our final cool riverside music event this season we are pleased to present KingB for another evening of Blues. This will be an opportunity to enjoy our final late summer evening event before autumn sets in!
We anticipate this event will be exciting and the band will provide their own unique version of some standard blues plus their own original material.

So, what has KingB been up to in the winter months? Recording, that’s what. They have been working on what they call old blues, new blues and our blues: some classic Chicago-style numbers, some of the best recent songs in the genre, and then a couple of their own originals. It will be the first proper recording by our current line-up. And it’s sounding pretty good so far!
KingB have been sharing our blues for over ten years throughout their Oxfordshire homelands and beyond; appearances at festivals such as Cornbury. Back in 2004 KingB opened the very first Cornbury Music Festival. So when the final Cornbury took place in July 2017, who better to close the Riverside Stage? Here’s a brief clip from our encore, I’m Tore Down, by Sonny Thompson.
This will be the first time band performs with us in the Lower Boathouse. Their repertoire features blues classics and original songs. Powerful vocals and soloing from guitars, harmonica and sometimes saxophone ensure every performance is unique. KingB we do our own thing but it’s always just for you; Come on down, sing, dance, have a good time!
