An Evening of Short Plays…
For our second Lower Boathouse event of the season we’ll be moving away from music & melodies…instead delving in to the world of acting, with an evening of short plays performed by the Oxford Playwrights Group.
Oxford Playwrights Group meet monthly to read and discuss members’ scripts and to plan productions. Their other activities include dedicated writing sessions and events with guest theatre professionals.
This will be the third evening of plays from Oxford Playwrights at our Lower Boathouse Riverside Venue, Cherwell Boathouse.
Oxford Playwrights has been developing for over twelve years. Since their last Cherwell Boathouse presentation, members’ work has been seen on a number of platforms; a 24-hour play making event in June 2016 at the Old Fire Station in Oxford, organised by Oxfordshire Theatre makers (Doc Andersen-Bloomfield, Joel Kaye & Mark Ralph-Bowman and Lorna Pearson).
In September of last year they presented a programme of short plays in the Top Room at Oxford Playhouse, and in December 2016 staged an evening at the Pegasus Theatre in East Oxford.
Earlier this month there was a Script in Hand moved performance of Heather Dunmore’s play ‘Forsaking All Others’ about the love affair between Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev.
The evening’s performances run from 8:00pm until 10:30pm.
There will be an interval around 8:45pm with the second half commencing around 9:30pm.
Our marquee overlooking the river will be open for the 45 minute interval. This will be mainly standing space plus a few tables and chairs.
Entry will be £12.50. We’ll be serving 3 courses; canapé starters, bowl food mains & petit four style desserts (vegetarian option available).
The bar will be open for alcoholic & non alcoholic refreshments.
Tickets: £15 (Admission + Arrival Drink)
