After over 50 years of celebrating Summer at the Cherwell Boathouse, we have decided to mark the special occasion with a day of festivities to say THANK YOU!
Special thanks goes to you, our loyal customers and team who’ve made every day of the last half a century from November 1968 to today so vibrant and so memorable!
we are celebrating the core beliefs of Tony Verdin who created the Cherwell Boathouse as it is today. Tony believed in the importance of spending time with family & friends, the pleasurable enjoyment of good food & good wine and the importance of preserving the delightful & quintessentially Oxford punting experience. Upstream to the Vicky Arms and beyond or going with the flow down to the University Parks & Parsons Pleasure. Getting back just in time to enjoy dinner in one of the most magical & beautiful riverside locations in Oxford…

Details for the day:
Music from 3pm with Rose & Crown Sunday jazz regulars…The Awesome Foursome!
There will be a BBQ from around 2:30pm with a birthday cake stand, as well as bars open for you to purchase drinks throughout the day…
Best dressed punter (1960’s Theme) & best punt style awards around 4pm…so rock up like you’re straight out of the swinging 60’s and get ready to show off your punt skills for a chance to win a meal voucher & a bottle of bubbly!
At 5pm we’ll have LIVE opera with Opera Anywhere…a favourite of the Boathouse family!
O’rael brings us some soul with his beautiful tones from 6:15pm!
Magician & mind reader Edward Crawford will be working his magic on you from 3pm – 5pm…
For the evening boogie session we’ll have a great blues band called the Night Wreckers…this will be in the Lower Boathouse from 7:30pm – 9:30pm!
The restaurant will be open for business as usual. So book a table and watch the celebrations in style with a glass of Champagne or English Sparkling. If that’s not for you then simply turn up and celebrate with us!
